EDUCATORS & COMMUNITY OUTREACH

There are many ways to partner with Cascade Life Alliance to bring organ, eye, and tissue donation education to your school or organization. Learn more below about our school education programs, our community outreach, and how we celebrate our community partners.

Cascade Life Alliance in collaboration with Donate Life Northwest offers education programs to provide students and educators information about organ, eye, and tissue donation.

Cascade Life Alliance is committed to providing thoughtful, culturally sensitive, and factual education on organ, eye, and tissue donation to our community.

DMV employees support our mission every day with the simple question: “Would you like to register as an organ, eye, and tissue donor?”

Educators

Cascade Life Alliance, in collaboration with Donate Life Northwest, provides multiple ways educators can bring thoughtful, culturally sensitive, and factual education on organ, eye, and tissue donation in a manner that engages and inspires students.

Beginning in the 2025-26 academic school year, an Oregon Revised Statute (ORS 336.474) will go into effect, requiring all high schools in Oregon to educate on organ, eye, and tissue donation. We are offering these free resources to schools and the community that meet the new health education standards.

Educators can choose from in-person, virtual, or Teach-It-Yourself presentations.

  • In-person or virtual presentations – educators in Oregon and SW Washington can request either an in-person or virtual program presented by Cascade Life Alliance & Donate Life Northwest staff or highly-trained volunteers.
  • Teach-It-Yourself – educators who prefer to teach the materials themselves will be provided with everything needed at no cost; including lesson plans, engaging videos, activities, handouts, and pre- and post-presentation questionnaires (in English & Spanish). We also have a variety resources allowing you to customize the class content and activities to fit you and your student’s needs.

HB 3234, which creates standards for organ donation education in Oregon High Schools, passed the House yesterday and will move to the Senate for consideration. Thank you to Nisha for all the hard work she has put into this bill over the years – we are so excited to see this life-saving legislation gain support.

DMV Partnership

Without the incredibly powerful partnership with the Oregon DMV, there wouldn’t be over 3 million Oregonians registered to be organ, eye, and tissue donors…Registered Lifesavers! We are grateful to each and every DMV employee that supports our mission to “Save, Enhance, and Heal Lives through Organ Donation and Transplantation.”

Cascade Life Alliance continues to strengthen this relationship by providing donation education and recognizing the DMV’s invaluable contributions.

DMV Recognition Program

Cascade Life Alliance is excited to launch a quarterly DMV Recognition Program to honor the incredible efforts of DMV staff who go above and beyond in supporting organ, eye, and tissue donation. This program allows DMV employees to nominate their peers who demonstrate exceptional dedication to promoting donation registration. Nominations can be made for individual staff members, management, departments, committees, work groups, or entire DMV offices that have shown a special commitment to donation advocacy.

We also invite DMV staff to make suggestions on how we can support their work in promoting donation. We want to hear from you! Please share any suggestions, feedback, concerns, and/or questions with us.
